This week we finish up the interview with Evina Luna, a woman that is talented, beautiful, and passionate about what she does. I hope you enjoy reading about her as much as I liked interviewing her.

G- How did the mentoring come about?

EL- It all started with the process that I have been through and the things I am doing in order to prep for competitions. People see me training for events or promoting products that I use and [express] interest. I present all of this in a way [that goes] against the stereotype. I think people are attracted to that.

G- You present yourself as a beautiful, strong, woman…

EL- Yes, but I also have the heart of a Twinkie. I can cry. My feelings can be hurt just like anyone else, but I am not prey, I am the predator. I think that word got around and someone asked my boyfriend if he knew anybody that did mentoring. He mentioned me, and it went from there. It has been fulfilling to help these people…WOW! Wanna fight!! (Evina swings her arm in a very defensive yet simultaneously aggressive manner at a moth) I WILL fight you! (The moth goes away, and all is well with the universe again). So yeah, I love helping these people. It is a dream of mine that I am now fulfilling.

G- Tell me about where things have gone with CNP and whomever else you have been working with since we last spoke.

EL- Since we last spoke I have had a lot of fun work. I did a couple of great photo shoots with James Patrick, an Arizona-based photographer that does a lot of work for fitness magazines. The first one was super nerve-racking for me because I am not super girly. I wear the same sports-bra to the gym every day--yeah, I know that is gross, but it is all I have--and I wear cut up t-shirts and capris because I don't go the gym for attention, I go to work. Thus, I did not have any clothes worthy of posing in a fitness magazine with. So I called some friends, and with their kind donations, was able to rock out some killer outfits and had a great shoot. Got to catch up with James, a friend of 10+ years, and make some killer images.

This shoot got me published in the UK MMA Uncaged magazine as the center page girl. It talked about fitness and diet but was focused on the MMA sport. Either way, two pictures were in the issue. Now I have exposure in the UK as a fitness model. This was a win for CNP as well, because one of their athletes is published in a magazine. I also did a shoot with Joe Stemmer to shoot some softer, sexier images to submit to Maxim, FHM, and magazines like that. CNP is keeping me very busy with lots of promos too. Working with CNP has been great because of all of the knowledge I have attained learning about their product and letting people know why they want to use it. I have learned a lot about nutrition over the last year. Nutrition is so important. Now, I am not talking about just eating the right foods, anyone can do that. I am not talking about diets, or a special drink, or pills, but rather the functionality of food. How the fat in almonds, or how the protein in cottage cheese, affects you. This information has been really helpful in getting me where I am today with my health.

As for my day to day life since we last met, things are crazy. I am in school at CSUN full time and working and competing, so things are really busy, but I love it, so it is all worth it.

G- What are you studying in school?

EL- I am majoring in sociology and minoring in management. My whole life, I have never REALLY known what I have wanted to do for work. I have known that I want to help people, but beyond that I never really had a specific job I wanted. Having a college degree is becoming less necessary, but being an educated person is, and always will be, very important. One of the things that I have really gained from taking these classes is that my eyes have been opened wider to how we look at one another, ourselves, and the rest of the world around us. It has been beneficial with my mentoring of others, in that it has helped me peel back the onion of their personality with a mental scalpel of questions, and really get to the core issues faster.

G- Let me start by saying that I have always thought you are a beautiful woman, but when I get to sit and listen to a person speak about what they love, and they say it with such passion, it makes them so much more beautiful. You, Evina, just increased 10-fold in beauty to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with me today.

EL- Oh, thank you, Gunnar. It has been my pleasure.

G- I look forward to seeing you on the cover of magazines around the globe and hearing about your business as it grows. Good luck, and thank you again.
